Well we decided we needed to go on adventure this weekend so we started out early Saturday morning and made the trek deep into the heart of western Wisconsin. Our destination was the Leinenkugel’s Brewery in Chippewa Falls, our mission to take a brewery tour, visit the small local zoo and have lunch before returning home. The kids did good but weren’t crazy about spending four hours in the car. All-in-all it was a successful trip and it felt great to be out and about in the world.
Fast forward to Sunday morning. We woke up to this guy covered in spots. Chicken Pox. This kid doesn’t get a break. It’s been six straight weeks of being sick and we are so over it! Today he turns 15 months, this is when he is scheduled to get his chicken pox vaccination, talk about timing. The little dude is doing well in spirit but isn’t enjoying his new look. We had to kick Elsa and Penny out this week and are laying low, hoping little Gus will be showing signs of improvement soon. It’s all oatmeal baths and calamine lotion from here on out.
Oh no, poor kiddo!! I unfondly remember my childhood case of chicken pox—pretty sure I spent the entire time in the tub. Do you know how he got it?
Hey Anne!
I think he got it visiting urgent care last weekend, that’s the only thing I can imagine. It is highly contagious though, so I suppose he could have caught it anywhere. He’s doing well, I think his age is a benefit, his pox are already fading and almost gone on his face. Hoping to be free and clear in a few days.
